Launching late summer of 2006, Kefira's Apothecary's aim is to provide all-natural beauty and personal care products for those looking to get away from the harsh and often damaging impact that chemical ingredients have upon our skin, hair, bodies and health.
In looking for a simple way to alleviate common problems such as eczema without resorting to prescription medication, and even to have soft, shiny manageable hair, we started doing some research. Thus was born a growing awareness and even a disgust and anger at what was commonly found in the most widely sold and used cosmetic products. Chemicals that routinely damaged skin and health, lip balms that increased dependency, products that claimed "natural" ingredients, it was an outrage!
Beginning with formulating products for my own family's use, it became an idea that hey, other people would benefit from this! Yes, there are some issues with dealing with all-natural ingredients. One is shelf-life and preservation. Many products have a short life span and require refrigeration, therefore cannot be sold in the typical retail store. Hence the custom order method. You order it, it is made for you, shipped over night and you receive complete instructions on how to care for your products. Other products don't require this kind of attention as they are not prone to spoilage so easily, and can be treated in a more traditional fashion. However, every product you order is made on demand!
